Bulgarian people

The Bulgarian village, this original cultural and ethnographic reserve, gives you the unique opportunity to enter and feel a whole new world and a way of life! It throws a bridge across the times and cultures, for which the modern Europeans are only barely aware. Beauty is in the heart and soul of Bulgarians. Wherever it is - in architecture, customs and home arrangement, dances, costumes, artistic crafts - the harmony of colors and sounds, cordiality and coziness is all around. Every nation which had once lived on the territory of Bulgaria has enriched the following generations with its culture. The unique folklore and lifestyle diversity that still astounds the specialists is based on the traditions of Thracians, Slavs and proto-Bulgarians.
In the last years many young Bulgarians are trying to carve out their careers beyond the borders of the country and maintain their excellent education and qualifications in all fields of culture, science, finance, manufacturing and new technologies.

In modern times, the Bulgarians have become internationally famous with their tolerance towards the ethnic groups.  Bulgaria managed to save her Jews from the Holocaust during World War II and it gave shelter to Armenians in the beginning of the 20th century from the Turkish genocide. Like those in the United States and Canada, national groups and ethnicities have been living together in peace for centuries on the territory of our small country. Some Turks remained to live on Bulgarian land after the Liberation, groups of Russians, Germans, Karakachans (nomad mountain shepherds of Greek origin), Gagaozes (Turkish-speaking Christians from the Varna district), Czechs, Hungarians, Gypsies, Wallachians and others inhabit our settlements compactly even nowadays. East Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Judaism, Protestantism, Islam and other religions exist in common.  Although there are villages where one can encounter ethnic groups with specific national clothes, the contemporary Bulgarians are modern people who are used to living with the conveniences of civilization. In the last years many young Bulgarians are trying to carve out their careers beyond the borders of the country and maintain their  excellent education and qualifications in all fields of culture, science, finance, manufacturing and new technologies.
